Sprawling Monument Valley

One of the most majestic places on earth, this valley of the rocks lies within the area of the Navajo Nation Reservation on the Arizona–Utah border. Enveloped by scenic clouds casting dramatic shadows across the desert floor, a cluster of vast sandstone buttes tower to heights of 1,000 feet above the valley floor. These fragile pinnacles of rock are surrounded by miles of mesas, buttes, shrubs and windblown sand, all comprising the brilliant colors of the valley.
